This is the lowest level of support coordination.Support Connection focuses on building the participant's ability to connect with and navigate the NDIS and broader community supports independently. It helps participants understand and implement their NDIS plans, identify service providers, and build their skills in managing their supports.Support Connection aims to enhance the participant's ability to exercise choice and control over their supports.
Level 2
Coordination of supports
Support Coordination provides more intensive assistance and guidance to participants in implementing their NDIS plans. It helps participants understand their plan, explore available support options, and connect with suitable service providers.Support Coordination also assists participants in building their skills and knowledge to manage their NDIS funding and coordinate their supports effectively.Support Coordinators may work directly with participants to establish service agreements, monitor service delivery, and resolve any issues or concerns that arise.
Level 3
Specialist support coordination
Specialist Support Coordination is the highest level of support coordination available under the NDIS. It is designed for participants with complex needs or situations requiring intensive support and coordination. Specialist Support Coordinators have specialized skills and expertise in navigating complex support systems, such as mental health, complex health needs, or justice system involvement. They provide highly individualized support, develop comprehensive support plans, coordinate multiple services and supports, and collaborate with various stakeholders to achieve the participant's goals. The level of support coordination assigned to a participant is determined based on their individual circumstances, level of support needs, and complexity. The NDIS considers factors such as the participant's goals, support requirements, capacity for decision-making, and the complexity of their plan implementation when determining the appropriate level of support coordination.
